Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials, Inc.
The Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) was founded in 1947 and has been an affiliate of the Association of School Business Officials International since 1964. Our membership consists of over 1,200 District Professional, Service Affiliate, Student and Retiree members.
Anyone employed in Wisconsin school districts and other educational institutions who serves in areas of business administration, accounting, facilities/buildings and grounds, transportation, food service, purchasing, and many other job descriptions on the non-instructional side of school district operations, is eligible for District Professional membership.
WASBO Service Affiliate members are individuals from businesses that provide goods and services to educational institutions in Wisconsin.
A 13-member board serving three-year terms governs WASBO. One of the seats on the board is reserved for a Service Affiliate representative.
The Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(6) not-for-profit organization. The organization's primary sources of funding are from membership dues and from services performed for WASBO Foundation and other non-profit entities.
The WASBO Foundation was established to assist in carrying out the educational and charitable purposes of the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials, Inc. The Foundation focuses on two priority funding activities:
- scholarships for graduating high school students from Wisconsin school districts
- conferences, certifications such as the Facilities Manager Certification or the Certified School Risk Managers Designation, and other professional development opportunities for WASBO members
The Foundation is governed by a 13-member Board of Trustees. The Trustees are the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials, Inc. Board of Directors.
The WASBO Foundation relies on contributions and fundraising activities such as golf outings and silent auctions. It also welcomes gifts, bequests, and memorial contributions. Such contributions are tax deductible as per the internal Revenue code pertaining to section 501(c)(3) foundations.
