Local Education Agencies (LEAs) will be required to report per-pupil expenditures, including actual personnel and non-personnel expenditures, for each school and each LEA. The per-pupil expenditures will be disaggregated by two fund sources: 1) Federal; and 2) a combined State and Local. This session will provide: 1) additional details related to this new 2018-19 school level reporting requirement; and 2) an opportunity for participants to provide feedback regarding the reporting of these actual 2018-19 school year per-pupil expenditures.

This session will provide an overview of claiming federal funds through WISEgrants. The speaker will walk the participants through filing a claim, the authorizer process, and claim validation messages and how to fix them. The speaker will also go into detail regarding claim-associated actions: indirect cost recovery, Tydings, revising claims, and returning grant funds to DPI. For those LEAs who have private schools within their jurisdiction, the presenter will cover claiming private school costs separately under IDEA flow-through and preschool formula allocations in FY 2018-19.

It’s one thing to understand IDEA MOE regulations enough to stay in compliance, but LEAs should also use the tools built in WISEgrants to effectively plan for Fund 27 expenditures and revenues in future years. The presenter will provide a brief overview of IDEA MOE and the compliance timeline, but will then demonstrate how an LEA can control local special education costs through long-term planning to maximize revenue by managing MOE rather than only complying with MOE.

It is very important for employers to make sure employee information reported to the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) is accurate and up to date. Not only will it keep employers from having extra work in adjustments and corrections, but it will ensure a smooth Annual Reconciliation. In this session, you will learn the different tools available to assist you throughout the year and through the Annual Reconciliation process.

This session will focus on web tools that make you more organized and efficient at your job. Vetting all the thousands of business apps that are now available can be time consuming. Also, training yourself can be difficult as well. It is our goal in this session to show tools that are practical for school business offices and give you some examples of how they can be put to use. Examples include Google Apps, DocuSign, Trello, TinyScan and more.
