More than half of Wisconsin school districts have less than 1,000 students and do not employ a licensed school business manager. WASBO conference data suggests that many school business office professionals (SBOPs) in small/rural settings do not have convenient access to professional development tailored to the profession. Beyond the small/rural market, the intended audience also includes business office specialists (e.g. payroll or accounts payable) who wish to explore a career in school business management, or simply want to learn and grow in their present role.

Course 2: Fund Accounting Fundamentals

This course will be offered virtually from 9:30-11:30 AM each Tuesday and Thursday from February 2-28, 2023

The second of four courses explores the purpose and function of each major fund, the typical activities specific to each fund, with practical real-world examples and exercises to help you build an effective and easy to manage chart of accounts. Essential topics include:

• General Fund Overview
• Fund 10
• Special Education Funds
• Debt Service Funds
• Capital Project Funds
• School Nutrition Funds
• Trust Funds
• Community Service Funds
• Special Revenue Fund
