The First Year Academy is open to any new school business office and facility professionals in the state. The cohort model makes this learning more accessible to districts across the state, expands it to more job roles, and increases local networking, all while helping manage travel costs amid tightening budgets in many school districts.

Discounted Conference & Coaching Packages

First Year Academy participants may purchase any of the conference packages below. Purchase a two-conference package and receive 20% off the regular rates for each included conference. Additionally, add the Fall Conference to your registration at a discounted rate! Finally, participants have access to personalized one-on-one coaching throughout the year to support their experience in the academy. Coaching provides tailored guidance, professional connections, and practical support to help participants grow in their role and apply what they learn throughout the program. *Attendees who register for the First Year Academy at the non-member registration rate (and have never been members) will receive a trial WASBO membership that lasts through June 30, 2027.

Hotel Accommodations - September

WASBO has negotiated a reduced rate at the Hilton Garden Inn Sun Prairie for our conference. Room rates are for Tuesday, September 15, and Wednesday, September 16, and start at $159 per night. You can book by calling the hotel directly at 608.856.4500 and asking for the WASBO rate. Room reservations must be made on or before August 15, 2026, to get the conference rate.

Cancellation Policy

The First Year Academy is a yearlong learning opportunity. Should a cancellation occur before September 1, a full refund will be given. For cancellations between September 2 and September 16, a $95 fee for each day (Sept 16 and 17) will be retained to cover food costs. Please note that no refunds for the remaining sessions will be given after the Academy begins on Sept 16. If conference add-on packages were purchased, the individual conference cancellation policy will apply.
