You can take any class you would like, whether you are working towards a certification or not.

What if I think I have previous education or experience and should be exempt from a course?

A grandparenting process and application is available on the WASBO U webpage, including eligibility requirements.

If my schedule doesn’t allow me to attend a class, what should I do?

Students are allowed to miss one class per course, but must view the recorded course to maintain good standing in the course.

Note: Teachers who are interested in WASBO U courses but are actively teaching during a scheduled course may seek special permission to earn course credit by viewing course recordings. Course assignments/assessments may be added to ensure proper completion of the course. This option is only possible for teachers. How do I register for a course?

All information on WASBO U, including links to register, can be found on the WASBO U website at WASBO.com/U.

How can I see which courses I have completed and my progress towards a certification?

In 2026, WASBO will be launching a certification module within your WASBO profile that allows you to see your progress and print a transcript of WASBO U courses you have taken.

How do I know which classes I need to take for a certification?

The required courses for each certification are listed on the certification pages on the WASBO U website.

What do I need to do to maintain my certification?

To maintain a certification, you must complete 24 hours every 3 years. Earned hours are applied to all completed certifications.

How do I earn continuing education hours?

There are several ways to earn CE hours:

  • Take a WASBO U course not previously taken

  • Attend a WASBO conference (maximum 8 hours allowed every 3 years towards the required 24 hours)

  • Have a coach for a school year through the WASBO coaching program (maximum 8 hours allowed every 3 years towards the required 24 hours)

Note: Double dipping on hours by attending a WASBO U course held in-person during a conference is not allowed (i.e. FCM modules). Hours for the WASBO U course will be credited only. If a WASBO U course is a separate pre-conference event the WASBO U hours and the conference hours may be allowed.

Will WASBO U, CSRM, or Facility Manager Core courses I have already taken still count?

Yes! Your credits will still count and will appear after your new member profile is launched in 2026. The transfers may take some time, but will appear in the coming months.

Can I complete continuing education through the national program for my CSRM certification?

If you take continuing education credits through the National Alliance you will be able to maintain your CSRM certification through the National Alliance. The WSRM certification will require continuing education credits through WASBO.

Will WASBO U courses be considered for credit by post-secondary institutions?

WASBO does not control post-secondary institutions' determination of credit acceptance. At this time, there is no post-secondary institution recognizing WASBO U courses for credit.
