Background & Purpose of Award

The purpose of the Midwest Facility Director of the Year Award is to recognize the outstanding contributions of those who lead their district and community to success.

The winner will be recognized at the 2024 Midwest Facility Masters Conference. To nominate a director, please complete the following form. Nominations accepted before September 20, 2024. The winner will be notified on September 27, 2024. 

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, the nominee must have been in their position for a minimum of three years.

Selection Criteria

Qualities to consider when recognizing the nominee:

Leadership:

  • Motivates and Inspires: The ability to create a positive and productive work environment where employees feel valued and empowered to contribute their best.
  • Effective Communicator: Clearly communicates goals, expectations, and changes to staff at all levels.
  • Team Builder: Fosters collaboration and teamwork within the facility.
  • Mentorship: Provides guidance and support to help employees develop their skills and careers.
  • Industry Innovation: Has the director implemented innovative practices that have been beneficial to the facility or the industry as a whole?
  • Community Involvement: Does the director participate in activities that benefit the local community?

Operational Excellence:

  • Efficiency and Productivity: A proven track record of improving efficiency, reducing costs, and optimizing facility operations.
  • Safety Focus: Creates a culture of safety for students and staff and implements programs to minimize accidents and injuries.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to identify and resolve facility issues effectively.
  • Maintenance Expertise: Understands preventative maintenance practices and ensures the smooth operation of school and its equipment.

Strategic Thinking:

  • Future-Oriented: Considers long-term goals and plans for the facility's growth and development.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyzes data to inform strategic decisions and resource allocation.
  • Adaptability: Can adjust to changing market conditions, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Sustainability Mindset: Works to integrate sustainable practices into facility operations.

Recognition

The winner will be recognized at that year's Midwest Facility Masters Conference. They will receive a complimentary conference registration. Press releases will be sent to the local media.

Selection Process

The selection committee will include members of the Midwest Facility Masters Conference Planning Committee. The selection committee may request additional information or seek answers to questions at their discretion. The selection committee’s decision is final.
